Obviously, owls are a most favored subject matter for Tim Cotterill. Having sculpted them since 1972, he is fascinated by their beauty, character, and personality- and reminds us that, remarkably, they are the only birds with forward facing eyes.
SHACKLETON, a barn owl, is the first owl of 2022 to join the Cotterill Parliament. In an effort to stylize the sculpture and accentuate the barn owl’s traits, Tim intentionally exaggerates the size of the feet and the talons. All of the details have been stripped away, never compromising the message. The beauty, the character, and the personality of this fine example of its species, comes through loud and clear!
